Governor Bobby Jindal Appoints Peter Egan to Causeway Commission (GNOEC)
Aug 05, 2009 Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal Announces the Appointment of Peter Egan to the Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission (the "Causeway Commission")
The Greater New Orleans Expressway Commission serves to regulate, operate and control the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, which includes the bridge system and the causeway approach road system on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. According to statute, the commission is comprised of five gubernatorial appointees, subject to senate confirmation. One member each must be appointed from Jefferson and St. Tammany parishes upon the recommendation of each parish’s respective legislative delegation. One Jefferson Parish resident must be appointed upon recommendation of the Jefferson Parish Council and one St. Tammany Parish resident must be appointed upon recommendation of the St. Tammany Parish Police Jury. The remaining membership position must alternate between a Jefferson Parish and St. Tammany Parish resident appointed upon the recommendation of the respective parish’s legislative delegation. Peter Egan, of Covington, is the CEO of Egan Healthcare Services and Medical Equipment. Egan is a member of the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and the Pharmacy Advisory Board. Egan was recommended by a member of the St. Tammany Parish legislative delegation to serve as a representative of St. Tammany Parish in the seat that alternates between Jefferson and St. Tammany Parishes, as required by statute.
